  • 5 Star Military Family Recognition Luncheon

    November 12, 2010

    Murray Center - Norfolk, VA

The Five Star Military Family Recognition Luncheon is an annual event to recognize five families, one from each military service, who demonstrates community spirit through volunteerism within the military and local communities. We began the luncheon approximately 14 years ago as part of Military Family Month, which is held in November. We ask each service (Navy, Army, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard) to select a family who represents the best in community spirit and commitment to "service before self." The families are brought together and recognized in front of military and local community leaders and distinguished guests.

We invite local organizations to purchase tables to offset the cost of the luncheon. We also ask companies to donate goods and services to give to the families as gifts as a way of saying "thank you" for their service.
